NexTone  / Genband (London, Sydney, Singapore)

Genband acquired NexTone/Nextpoint during my employment and subsequently acquired Nortel’s Carrier Voice division (CVAS)

Senior Pre Sales Engineer (Jan 2010 – Sep 2010, Sydney; Oct 2010 – Present, Singapore)

Covering the Asia Pacific region, involved in direct and channel pre-sales activities for Genband’s (inc. ex-Nortel) product suite of Session Border Controller, Femtocell Security, Multimedia Application Server, Soft Switch, Media Gateway and Deep Packet Inspection/Traffic and Policy Management product lines. Responsible for detailed technical RFP responses and quotations for complex NGN and IMS carrier Voice over IP proposals as well as customer trials/proof of concept. Heavy focus on regional booking and revenue targets. Extensive travel for regularly held customer meetings/ presentations and trade shows in many countries in the ASEAN and ANZ markets. Acted as the primary technical contact to key accounts for pre and post-sales support. Regional prime to product management and marketing teams for roadmap planning and product development.

Technical Services Team Leader (April 2005 – Oct 2007, London; Nov 2007 – Dec 2009, Sydney)

Provided level 3 product and technology support for carrier grade Session Border Controller (SBC) VoIP security platform, known as the NexTone / Nextpoint MSX and later the Genband S3. Successfully led the establishment of new satellite offices in London and Sydney for ‘follow-the-sun’ expansion of the technical support departments. Managed three staff in each of the EMEA and Asia Pac technical services teams. Ran internal and external training courses and developed processes and procedures for workflow and SLA assurance. Worked with the sales teams in a pre and post-sales support capacity and as a primary liaison with other internal departments. In-depth technical knowledge and analysis of signaling protocols and faults.

Voice Network Engineer (July 2002 – April 2005)

Operational responsibility of Australia’s largest Voice over IP and Cisco Powered network. Tasked with design, deployment and last resort fault resolution of complex VoIP and networking solutions.

Network Operator (July 2002 – April 2005)

In the 24-hour Network Operations Centre, I was responsible for monitoring and fault resolution of the network on a rotating shift roster. In-depth exposure to Internet and Voice technologies such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPN, QoS, H323, SIP, ISDN, SS7, Ethernet, E1, ATM. Day-to-day operation of primarily Cisco switches, routers and access servers, IP peering and server administration.

Network Support Engineer (October 2000 – July 2002)

As the level 3 customer facing network support for carrier grade leased line connections I was tasked with ensuring any faults or routing and system changes on large enterprise and carrier IP interconnects were handled within strict SLA requirements. Exposure to edge internet technologies such as interior and exterior routing protocols, VPNs, router and switch configuration and last mile tails in a mixed vendor environment.

Senior Technical Support Representative (January 1999 – October 2000)

Out-sourced third level customer support for Australia’s largest ISP, Telstra Big Pond, giving telephone and email based connectivity assistance and training for enterprise customers over Dial-up, Cable, ADSL, ISDN and Satellite. Exposure to many facets of mass-contact call centres and new product and technology introduction.
 

Interests and Hobbies
